Shonen Jump gets Detention at Schoolastic

Scholastic, Inc. has stopped selling Shonen Jump through its school book fairs after complaints from the Norwin School District in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. A fifth-grader purchased the title at a Scholastic fair at Hillcrest Intermediate School in December.
Among the potential content issues mentioned were a cigarette-smoking hero, a character with a swastika on his forehead, mild profanity and a female character who asks readers to buy future issues to see which hot guy would die next.

Shonen Jump, which was carried by Scholastic because of the popularity of the CCG game cards included with the publication, does carry a "T" label on its cover signifying it is for teens, and not for a younger audience.
