Cookie Jar Sells Kid Shows to Jetix Europe

Cookie Jar Entertainment recently inked deals with key European broadcasters, and licensed out two of its newest adventure shows, Magi-Nation and World of Quest.
Cookie Jar Entertainment has sold two of its newest TV series, Magi-Nation and World of Quest, to Jetix Europe, a leading children's programmer.

Based on the graphic novel of the same name by Jason T. Kruse, World of Quest follows the spoiled Prince Nestor and the square-jawed hero Quest on a mission to save Nestor's parents and the kingdom of Odyssia from the evil Lord Sprite. The comedy action-adventure series is part of the Kids' WB! on The CW Saturday morning line-up and will debut on Teletoon Canada this fall.

Magi-Nation chronicles the adventures of three young Magi through the Moonlands to defeat the evil Shadow Magi who threaten their magical world. Faced with riddles, mysteries, vastly varying lands and numerous foes, the young heroes and their Dream Creatures must use intelligence, wit and bravery to see their way through. The series is broadcast on Kids' WB! on The CW, CBC and Radio-Canada.

Cookie Jar will launch Magi-Nation: Battle for the Moonlands, its free-to-play/micro-payment online role-playing game at Magi-Nation.com, in April.

Magi-Nation and World of Quest will air on Jetix channels across Europe in 2008.

Marc Buhaj, senior VP of programming at Jetix Europe, said of the shows: "They will be great additions to our comedy and adventure portfolio."

Toronto-based Cookie Jar, which has executive produced or developed over 2000 half hours of kids' television programming, signed a boatload of deals with major European broadcasters at this year's MIPTV Media Market in Cannes. The companies striking new agreements included Nickelodeon (Italy), France 5, ZDF (Germany), TiJi (France), SVT (Sweden) and RTE (Ireland).
