Stephen King's THE STAND Adapted By Marvel

Stephen King himself announced that Marvel is going to make a graphic novel out of his story THE STAND.
While on NPR this past Wednesday Stephen King talked about his ties to the comic book industry with the recent release of "The Dark Towers" and he shared news about his next project to get the graphic novel treatment.

"I did go to Marvel and ask them if they would have any interest in adapting 'The Stand' as a graphic novel and they are going to do that," King told Talk of the Nation. "Marvel is going to do 'The Stand' as a graphic novel."

A Marvel spokesperson simply offered "no comment" on the topic.

THE STAND was first released in 1978 and the apocalyptic novel followed the survivors of the flu "Captain Trips" which divided people into to camps for a battle of good versus evil.

In 1990 "THE STAND The Complete and Uncut" edition was released which was updated the 1978 references to the time of 1990. Then in 1994 it was adapted for TV as a mini-series directed by Mick Garris.
