Variety is reporting that Eddie Murphy - who voiced Donkey in the Shrek films and Mushu in Mulan - is in talks to lend his voice to another character: Hong Kong Phooey. The actor/comedian is set to voice Phooey in Alex Zamm's upcoming CGI/live action adaptation of the hit Hanna-Barbera cartoon, which will be produced by Jay Stern and Brett Ratner.

Eddie Murphy is once again lending his voice to an animated feature, as the “Shrek” and “Mulan” star is set to voice the animated lead character in the live-action/animated hybrid “Hong Kong Phooey,” based on Hanna-Barbera’s animated TV about a kung-fu-fighting pup. Alex Zamm (“Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts”) is directing.
