Is a Beetlejuice remake in the works?

According to Deadline.com a Beetlejuice remake may be possible.
23 years ago, Tim Burton directed a wacky spook-com film called Beetlejuice that caught lots of eyes and became a popular hit and is still found on television channels to this day. Now, it looks like either a sequel or possibly a remake may be in the works. Check out this snippet from a article from Deadline.com on the subject.

The story goes that Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg, the creator of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies and his producing partner, have set up a first-look deal with Warner Bros., where their initial project is likely to be a new Beetlejuice follow-up.

There’s no mention of Tim Burton, director of the original film, but it’s worth noting that Grahame-Smith and Burton are working together on both Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Slayer and Dark Shadows. He at least knows about what’s going on, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him take up the megaphone for the film, when it gets to that stage.

Similarly, I can’t imagine Beetlejuice being played by anyone other than Michael Keaton. I’m sure he’s been consulted about this, and presumably given a clear thumbs up. There were several Beetlejuice sequel notions considered before, including the infamous Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian and Beetlejuice In Love.

They later went on to add:

As far as we know, Grahame-Smith would be starting afresh, not building on either of those ideas. It will be interesting to find out if Winon Ryder has a role, and if Beetlejuice would remain a supporting character, just as he is in the first movie.

Sounds like Beetlejuice follow-up talk is heating up! What do you think of a sequel or remake? (which seems more likely so far) Share your thoughts in the usual place.
