The Departed...Part 2
In the world of "Why is this happening?" News, it seems that a sequel to the Oscar winning film may be in the works.
You can file this story under the "Why?" category. It is being reported that a sequel to the Martin Scorsese film "The Departed" (or Depaahted, if you're from Boston) is in the works and could be released in 2012.
Writer William Monahan has said that he already has some ideas for a continuation of the story. Mark Wahlberg, who starred in the first film and was one of the few characters to make it out alive, has also hinted that Robert De Niro, a Scorsese favorite, has been approached to play a corrupted State politician.
There is no word as to whether or not director Martin Scorsese would return to direct this sequel.
I can't figure out why they want to make a sequel to an absolutely incredible film that is perfectly fine as a stand-alone film. Bad judgement on this one, I hope it does not go through.
