Planet of the Apes Movie Marathon on Syfy

This month Syfy is running a Planet of the Apes marathon with a movie per night, ranging from the 1968 original to 2001's remake. With Rise of the Apes going into production next month, it's a good way to get the POTA spirit going.

Tuesday 6/8: Planet of the Apes (1968): Charlton Heston as George Taylor crashlands on what he and his fellow survivors believe to be an alien world where talking apes reign supreme - the truth is far more horrifying.

Wednesday 6/9: Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970): Astronaut Brent (James Franciscus) follow's Taylor's trajectory, arrives on the planet of the apes and finds himself smack in the middle of a war between apes and mutant humans, the fate of -- quite literally -- the planet hanging in the balance.

Thursday 6/10: Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971): Talking apes Cornelius (Roddy McDowall) and Zira (Kim Hunter) travel from the future to earth's past in Taylor's ship. At first they're treated like celebrities, though once it's discovered that Zira is pregnant an ape-hunt begins, born out of fear for the future of the human race.

Friday 6/11: Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972): Caesar (Roddy McDowall), the grown child of Cornelius and Zira, leads enslaved apes into revolt against humanity.

Saturday 6/12: Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973): Caesar struggles with the future and apes/humans relations, made more difficult by militant gorillas and human survivors of the nuclear war determined to wipe out their simian conquerers.

Sunday 6/13: Planet of the Apes (2001): Remake of the original starring Mark Wahlberg and directed by Tim Burton.
