Is Wizard Mag the new Maxim?

Some discerning fans are taking Wizard to task for calling itself "The #1 Men’s Pop-Culture Magazine!"
A Monday (Oct 29) PopCultureShock.com posting by JON HAEHNLE announced that the issue of Wizard out October 31 has labeled itself "The #1 Men’s Pop-Culture Magazine!"

Features inside the mag include:
A pin-up of "Hero Hottie" Kristen Bell

The "Match the Rack" feature

Surprisingly, the Web has not been inundated with protests and angry calls to action. In fact, most comments have the distinct feel of resignation.

"I guess it’s nice to see Wizard finally officially acknowledge what they really are," commented one poster, summing up the feelings of many.

A couple did manage to get rankled, though.

"I love Kristen Bell, but Wizard is so creepy with how they do things it isn’t even funny," read one posting. "And 'Match the Rack'? Cripes, dudes."

"What’s even more disturbing," another replied, "is that one of those 'racks' is from LEGO Star Wars!!"

A response, posted on the blog site Brainfreeze, included a description of the magazine which was harsh yet arguable:

"Wizard is like that friend that you used to be able to hang out with and talk about the Composite Superman or how awesome Blue Beetle was; until he became this guy that was obsessed with sex, kind of shallow, and a bit of a user."
