'T4' is a go

The T3 writers are scribbling away on a flick that's gotten some surprising star interest.
Even before The Sarah Connor Chronicles has gotten a chance to find its footing, consulting producer James Middleton reports that its cinematic progenitor is prepping episode #4.

According to Slashfilm's Peter Sciretta, Michael Ferris & John D. Brancato (T3) are hard at work on the T4 script toward an October pre-production and a '09 release.

The fourth film, which will be #1 in a new trilogy and thus will bear no numeral, is to follow John Connor and Kate Brewster into the post-apocalyptic world. However, Middleton claims that the flick will feature ANOTHER hero.

"This character will be influenced by John Connor," says Middleton.

(Wild theory coming: this suggests that Connor may, in fact, be assassinated in the new trilogy, as revealed in T3. But the killer would have to resemble the governor of California.)

Middleton also says that no director or players are in place, despite the following intriguing rumor...

Academy Award-winner (and former Mummy series star) Rachel Weisz has recently inquired about the lead female role in Terminator 4, reports Celebrity Spotlight.

(The part in question is the female terminator, NOT Kate Brewster, though T3 star Claire Danes has stated she will not be reprising the role of Connor's love interest.)

Purportedly, Weisz's main competitor is none other than Chloe Sevigny. But, according to Moviehole's Clint Morris, Weisz has nothing to worry about.

"Look, unless there’s a scene in the film where the T-800 gets head from his female comrade, then it ain’t much of a competition," he writes, referring to Sevigny's infamous (and regretted) performance in Vincent Gallo's The Brown Bunny.

However, controversy aside, Weisz is still the one with the bigger name...and the Oscar.

As for Arnold, he WON'T be back.
