'CLASH OF THE TITANS' to be remade by Robert Rodriguez?

A "wild rumor" suggests that Sin City director Robert Rodriguez is at the top of Warner Bros's list to helm a remake of Clash of the Titans.
An anonymous source has dropped an interesting (and completely unsubstantiated) tip on Latino Review's KELLVIN CHAVEZ that Warner Bros wants writer-director Robert Rodriguez (Grindhouse) to direct its remake of the 80's cult fave flick Clash of the Titans.

This is only a rumor and, even if the studio has put Rodriguez on its "pie-in-the-sky" wish list, he isn’t involved and he isn’t in negotiations for the film.

Despite this, JOSH TYLER at Cinema Blend admitted on the record that the rumor makes some sense. "Rodriguez has already shown an interest in remaking classic genre projects, and Clash of the Titans, in a strange way, fits pretty comfortably on a shelf with Jane Fonda’s classic sci-fi sex romp [Barbarella] as genre material from a similar, bygone era."

A remake of Roger Vadim's Barbarella is only the latest feature update of a classic sci-fi property to which Rodriguez has been attached, following a live-action version of The Jetsons cartoon and the Will Ferrell-starring Land of the Lost. At this time, Barbarella has not been green-lit, thanks to budget arguments and concerns over the casting of the director's fiancee, Rose McGowan, as the titular lead. If Rodriguez drops (or is dropped from) Barbarella, he'd be free to pick up another project, such as Titans.

Clash of the Titans follows Perseus, the human son of Zeus, on his quest to save Princess Andromeda from the evil Calibos. The original film was the last feature for which stop-motion king Ray Harryhausen provided special effects. It should be noted that Rodriguez featured a sword-fighting-skeleton homage to Harryhausen in his adventure pic Spy Kids 2.
