2 more for 'G.I. JOE'

Even MORE G.I. Joe casting news! This time it's Breaker and Heavy Duty.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje ("Lost") and Said Taghmaoui ("Sleeper Cell") have been drafted for Paramount's live action film G.I. Joe.

Stephen Sommers (The Mummy) is directing the flick based on the popular Hasbro action figures, comic book series and Saturday morning cartoon. Ray Park (X-Men), Sienna Miller (Stardust), Byeong-Heon Lee (I Come With The Rain) and Rachel Nichols (Star Trek) already have enlisted.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje (above) will play ordnance expert Heavy Duty and Taghmaoui (right) will play Breaker, the team's communications specialist.

While in 'Joe' lore, Heavy Duty's ID was Lamont A. Morris of Chicago, Illinois, and Breaker’s was Alvin R. Kibbey of Gatlinburg, Tennessee, The IESB reports that the movie characters may not adhere to canon. The international origins of the above named actors would seem to support this.

Lee is set to portray Storm Shadow, Park will play his "sword brother" Snake Eyes, and Nichols will take on Snake Eyes's love interest Scarlett. The Hollywood Reporter's CARLY MAYBERRY is announcing Miller definitively as The Baroness, but she also continues to report fallaciously that the Joe team is based out of Brussels.

Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers) and Hasbro's Brian Goldner are producing with Sommers and Bob Ducsay.

And, just so I can post another photo of her, Nichols has been confirmed by the studio.

G.I. Joe is scheduled for an August 2009 release.
