[UPDATE] Zelda Movie: April Fools Prank or Reality?

Is this just another part of the April fool’s Day gala of pranks? Or could we actually be seeing a Zelda movie on our horizons?
But if you check out the trailer here, then you’ll be well aware of just how awesome this movie could possibly be.

So the question remains, how dedicated is IGN to creating an April fool’s Day joke?

Is the Zelda Movie a Joke?

And, to be honest, there is only so much checking I can actually do to confirm or deny this. Here’s what I can tell you though. IGN announced that this film was to be produced by Rainfall Films; a company which does actually exist and has worked on projects with some caliber of reputability. However they are a small company, working on small projects.

The credits at the end of the trailer do actually provide names to actors and directors from IMDB. Following in the traditions of movies like Star Wars: Episode IV, this movie has cast all unknowns for the roles. Link is played by JR Killigrew, Princess Zelda is to be portrayed by Camille C. Brown and Gregory Lee Kenyon stars as Ganondorf.

One name does stick out as someone with a credible history of acting; Camden Toy. He is one of those veteran “man behind the mask” actors, known to many as an Übervamp or Gentlemen from Buffy.

From an internet standpoint, there is also further credibility. The Rainfall Films website is not noticeably linked to IGN, and provides a very flash showreel.

So, all in all, it could be that this is really a movie in the works and it’ll be coming our way soon. When? This is the last problem for those of us wanting this to be true. The trailer says it will appear a year from today, April 1st, 2009. If you read the comments, it surely is a prank, but who knows.

Heaven help us if we continue to preserve these April fool’s Day jokes.

[UPDATE]Yeah, it was an April Fool's Day joke... make sure to check out the source link for IGN's reveal! Bums!
