I WAS LEGEND? Warner Preps Prequel For Smith

Warner Brothers is recalling producer Akiva Goldsman, director Francis Lawrence and star Will Smith for a prequel to the box office smash I Am Legend.
Francis Lawrence once again will direct action star Will Smith as Doctor Robert Neville in a prequel to their international hit film I Am Legend, reports Variety.

D.B. Weiss has been hired to pen the script from a detailed outline developed by Lawrence and Smith with producers Akiva Goldsman and James "J.L." Lassiter. The new film will fill in the gaps between NYC's mass exodus and the post-plague city in which lone survivor Neville faces off against a mutated mob.

I Am Legend, the first big-budget adaptation of Richard Matheson's 1954 novel to make it to the screen after simmering in development hell for many years, grossed $584 mil globally.

It is unknown at this time if Kona will be returning to the role of Samantha the dog.
