COMIC-CON: DOC OCK REVEALED!!!
Saturday, July 19, 2003 8:19 CDT

Wow! The folks at Sony Pictures have done it again, completely surprising the fans at Comic-Con in San Diego today! What was shown? Scooper 'Jspider13' gives an awesome, detailed description (if you have pictures of the event, don't hesitate to share!)...

Oh boy. I have HUGE news to tell you guys. I have just finished day 4 of comic-con. I attended the Sony pictures Conference...here's what went down.

Minutes before it started, crew were setting up wires along the stage...I was suspicious. Why wires?

So it all begins and Laura Zisken and Avi Arad are introduced and announce that Sam Raimi will not be attending due to a 102 degree fever. I was very very bummed. It was just gonna be these two for the remaining hour.

Avi explains that this movie will be a "bigger, better movie" and tells that Peter, MJ, and Harry have more in-depth roles.

All of a sudden, Laura announced that the people in the room, are about to be the first in the WORLD to see this sneak peak at Spider-Man 2's TEASER POSTER. The wires that were set up BEGAN TO RAISE THE DOC OCK TEASER POSTER FROM UNDER THE STAGE!!!!!!! MY LORD THIS HAS TO BE THE MOST AWESOME TEASER POSTER EVER PUT TOGETHER! Just like the first film, it was an art photo, BUT ONE BAD MUTHA LOOKIN ART WORK POSTER. It showed Doc Ock's back towards the camera with the tenticles coming towards you. He was wearing long brown trench coat with his hands in his coat pockets and was wearing some hi-tech looking glasses. At the bottom of the poster said the number "2" and under that it said "July 2004"

Then dykstra walked out and told the audience it will be a much better looking movie.

That wasn't it! Laura then announces we are about to see a sneak peak at Spider-Man 2!!!! She called it a "Science experiment gone wrong - Doc Ock's origin"

The lights dimmed and the screen turned on...

It first showed sort of a montage screen of different scenes in the movie. One shot was where Spider-Man, battle ravaged, was crawling along a very large spider-web and smiling. Another shot was of Spidey waving to the camera. It also showed James Franco who I can say is confirmed due to this visual shot. Now the scene began. The scene started in some laboratory. Doc Ock is lying on his stomach on a operating table, being experimented on by six or more scientists and is having tenticals fused to his back. One scientist is telling about the experiment to a fellow scientist. All of a sudden, the camera pans down and shows something under a blanket sheet move. Then out from under a tentical elongates (With VERY cool sound effects) and slams a scientist towards the wall. Then another arm elongates onto and grips a scientist's face and slams her into a wall. Now all of the arms continue to literally punish the scientists as they scream for mercy. The Ock origin is a HELL of a lot better then the Green Goblin origin. I GUARANTEE FANS WILL BE STUNNED JUST AS I WAS.

Then it cuts to Molina's face, style lying on stomach while he has a bandage around his eyes. He rips it off and seems to be woosy and has no idea what just happened. Then gives a mad look on his face. THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE COOLEST THING I HAVE SEEN IN A MOVIE. Once the scene was over, MOLINA walked out on stage!

I am still in awe from seeing that footage and being honored to be one of the first. You can talk to me over the SHH boards for what else I saw because I can hardly think right now due to shock.

Don't worry, I did take pictures of both the posters and the scene footage and wil have them online by monday.

Then after the footage, we got to walk up to the mic and ask questions. I was still in awe once I got to the mic, so I can't remember what other people asked. But I asked Molina and Dykstra how much CGI will we see, will we be seeing cgi tenticals or will they be actual props? Also, how much more or less cgi will be be seeing of Spider-Man?

Dykstra answered that its all a matter of where its needed most. Just like for Spider-Man cgi, the tenticals will be cgi where it's physically impossible to do manuevering with the arms. Molina said that he has to wake up every morning and put on the tenticals.

That's all for me!!
