Lance Henriksen (Bishop of Aliens to you) has joined the production of Alien vs. Predator. Though he won't be reprising the role that put him on the map, Variety had plenty of other details to divulge on the progress of this film.

According to Variety, Henriksen will 'portray a billionaire industrialist who finances an expedition to the Antarctic that discovers an ancient pyramid. There they also discover two alien races engaged in the ultimate battle. The film combines creatures from the two popular SF franchises.'

The 'alien pyramid' angle to the story was actually a plot point dropped from the original script for Alien. There, on what would become known as LV426, the crew discovered a pyramid that appeared to be some sort of shrine or altar built by other intergalactic species to worship and deify this particular Alien.

How the story will get around the fact that Predators are normally drawn to hot, violent enviroments and not cold, frigid locales remains to be seen.

Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil) is directing and Milla Jovovich, whom he directed in Resident Evil, has been rumored as being on his wishlist for the lead femaile role. Anderson and Shane Salerno wrote the script. John Davis, Lawrence Gordon, Joel Silver and Walter Hill will produce. The movie begins shooting in late October in Prague, and has been penciled into an August 6th, 2004 release date.
