Lightning Lad Talks About Toon

Plus, a look at the series' working logo.
Andy Milder, who voices Garth (Lightning Lad) Ranzz in the upcoming Supergirl & the Legion of Super-Heroes cartoon series, says he's a fan of the long-running comic series: "I read the Legion books like crazy when I was a kid," Milder told Comics Continuum. "My older brother is 11 years my senior and collected them, so I started near the very beginning. While I confess to falling out for some years in the 80s and 90s, I keep my eye on them.

"Lightning Lad, however -- this is a true honor. A founding member and, for my money, one of the coolest-powered heroes? Fantastic."

Warner Bros. Animation is producing the series which has been talked about but not officially announced yet. It is expected to premiere on the Kids' WB! and then end up on Cartoon Network.

Voice recording under director Kelly Ward has begun, Milder said.

In the series, Lightning Lad is the Legion's field leader. Other prominent members will include Superboy, Brainiac 5, Saturn Girl, Timber Wolf, Phantom Girl and Bouncing Boy, according to the Continuum. An early episode explains how Superboy gets to the 31st Century.

The Fatal Five will be among the villains. Here's the series' working logo:
