Justice League Ending on a Bang

Justice League Unlimited isn't going out with a whimper, but with a bang. Saturday's airing of the last episode "Destroyer," will be impressive, says producer Dwayne McDuffie.

"It was a pleasure to be a part of the team on the series finale of JLU, in many ways the conclusion to a single grand continuity spanning Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Batman Beyond and depending on who you're arguing with, several other fine shows," McDuffie told Comics Continuum.

"As always, director Jaoquim Dos Santos brought the funk, delivering several classic action sequences -- wait for 'the punch,' after you've seen it, you'll know what I'm talking about. All of our major characters take a final bow and even Luthor still has a trick up his sleeve.

"Bruce Timm and James Tucker have produced yet another classic animated series and this is a finale worthy of their legacy. Come join us for one last adventure."

Producer Matt Wayne added: "It was a big thrill being part of what I think is the best animated action show ever," he told Comics Continuum. "Every day there'd be something, a plot twist or storyboard or some new footage, that would make me say 'Oh, my God.' Most jobs you don't get that.

"Bruce, James and Dwayne always push themselves to do it bigger and better than last time. I'm proud to have jumped into that mix and held my own.

"'Destroyer' is a great episode to go out on, one big climax after another."

Meanwhile, Cartoon Network has posted a clip from the episode online. Check it out here.

Here's how the network describes the episode which airs at 10:30 pm ET: "Darkseid returns stronger than ever. As his armies strike across the globe, the League must form an unlikely alliance if it hopes to save Earth from certain doom. Premieres Saturday, May 13, at 10.5 p.m. (e/p)."
