Warner Bros. Bring Classic Animation to T-Works
Next spring Warner Bros. will launch an interactive site to showcase classic and new animation from Warner Bros. Animation, Hanna-Barbara and DC Comics.
With the launch of T-Works in spring of 2008 Warner Bros. will present old "Looney Tunes" cartoons, featuring characters like Bugs Bunny and Porky Pig, alongside Hanna-Barbara offerings like "Scooby-Doo" and "The Flintstones," as well as more contemporary animation like "Batman Beyond."
"The experience will be something that you expect from a studio," said Lisa Judson, president of Warner Bros. Animation. "We not only have these amazing characters but we also have the assets that go with them."
Delivering exclusive Web-only offerings from Sudio 2.0 and the digital production division of Warner Bros. Television Group there will be an untitled "Batman" short-form series and an untitled "Wizard of Oz"-related project.
The site will also include over 125 games developed by Warner Bros.
"We have set aside a significant budget for digital development," said Judson.
Other features will let users create cartoon mash-ups and create widgets for use on sites like Facebook or MySpace. T-Works will also deliver virtual worlds for users to create and assume cartoon identities.
The site will be ad-supported and Judson said the company is talking to a "select group of partners." She said T-Works will be open to all the different digital advertising models currently in use, including pre-roll and post-roll.
