Ozy Revisits Halo: Combat Evolved

Ozy Revisits Halo: Combat Evolved
I've decided to go back and play some of the games for the Xbox and PS2 and see how they held up with the consoles. My 1st review/revisit was to the Xbox lauch title that changed videogames forever, Halo: Combat Evolved...
I'd 1st like to think Ror for giving me this idea, his idea of revisiting old CBM's made me think that I would like to do the same with some of the most popular videogames. My 1st stop is Halo: Combat Evolved...

Back in 1998 to 2001, many new consoles were coming out. Playstation 2, Gamecube, and the X-Box. Microsoft, who was jealous of Sony at the time, decided to make a game console to compete with their PS2 console (PS2 was better than X-Box though and lasted more longer). They soon announced the X-Box and released it in November 2001, along with some launch titles for it. One of these lauch titles was Halo: Combat Evolved which had been in development for the PC originally but was later changed to the X-Box after Microsoft bought Bungie. The game was a huge success and was nicknamed the X-Box's "Killer app" and has since spawned 2 sequels and become a franchise.

I know everyone generally knows the plot but I'll put it up anyway. In Halo's twenty-sixth century setting, the player assumes the role of the Master Chief, a cybernetically enhanced "SPARTAN" super-soldier. The player is accompanied by Cortana, an artificial intelligence who occupies the Master Chief's neural interface. Players battle various aliens on foot, called "The Covenant" and in vehicles as they attempt to uncover the secrets of the eponymous Halo, a ring-shaped structure. Master Chief soon discovers a more horrifying secret about the ring: The Flood.

Voice acting in this game is pretty good. The graphics just look bloody-awful compared to today's videogames but hey, it was made 9 years ago so back then, the game was considered to have good graphics. The gameplay is pretty good, this game pretty much made 1st-person shooter controls with the use of the "right trigger" on the Xbox controler. The story was one of the best for a videogame at the time and it keeps you on the edge of your seat for the whole game.

There were a few bad things about the game such as your allies, who fight with you. They are basically useless in the game (except for being gunners on the warthog) and they die so easily, you might as well not even pay hardly any attention at all to them. Also, just a few minor problems with some of the vehicles and on some of the levels, you can get a bit confused since I got lost a few times and went in the wrong direction . But aside from those minor problems, this game basically made 1st-person shooters what they are today and it will always go down in history as a classic.
