The Daredevil movie opened in 2,000 theaters Thursday evening. The latest comic book adaptation is expanding to 3,471 theaters Friday and Hollywood trades are already predicting the film could have summer-movie strength.

The industry is saying a box office total of over $40 million for the four days isn't out of the question, which would be huge for February. The $58 million bow of "Hannibal" over a three-day frame in February 2001 holds the current record for the month.
