David Lloyd Talks V for Vendetta

The artist on the highly anticipated movie and possible sequels.

Now Playing Magazine recently spoke to original V for Vendetta artist David Lloyd who shared his thoughts on the upcoming film adaption headed to theatres everywhwere on November 4th.

"As far as I know, and I’m sure the script hasn’t been altered, you never see V in the film,” he says. “The whole point of V is that you don't see who's behind the mask, and you never do [in the comic]. I must say that I questioned Larry and Andy Wachowski on this when I spoke to them… and they have the final edit. I was actually even assured by Joel Silver that there won't be any of this stuff where you have preview screenings. You hear this happening all the time, where [the audience of] some preview screening somewhere decides they’d rather like another ending, so they change it. That won’t happen. I’ve been reassured that the script is the final thing and you will not see who's behind [the mask]. I mean, real fans know it’s Hugo Weaving! But you will not see him."

On possible sequel:

"[The work of V] can go on, because Evey becomes V as an idea,” Lloyd says of the comic. “But the thing is, you couldn’t continue it; it’s finished. Now and then the idea of a sequel has been raised, in vague forms, but I think it would be a very bad idea. I think the story's finished. That’s it. What is there to say? It's all been said in the original."
