Wedding Crashers director Does R.I.P.D.

about a murdered cop recruited to anti-ghost police force
Peter Dobkin, director of the beloved Wedding Crashers, will direct the film based on the comic book series R.I.P.D. (Rest in Peace Police Dept) according to Phil Kay, screenwriter for Aeon Flux. Phil told CHUD: "It’s kind of about a spectral police force. It’s very much a Ghostbusters or Men In Black vibe. It’s an action comedy, very heavy on the comedy. That process has been really great, and I think it’s going to be a good movie. Dobkin is incredibly good at this stuff." When asked about a release date, Hay said "We are working as fast as we can. I don’t know anything officially, but we’re all very excited about it and we’re trying to get it out there as soon as we can."

Not yet! Before R.I.P.D.'s release Dobkin unleashes a Santa Claus movie with Vince Vaughn and Paul Giamotti.

R.I.P.D. was originally a Dark Horse comic that was introduced in 2000 by Peter M. Lenkov, Lucas Marangon, and Randy Emberlin. The plot of the comic book series was a police department comprised of ghosts that recruits a freshly murdered officer to aid in their attempts at weeding out ghosts that won't leave the human world.
