DC DVD: Animated Wonder Woman on the horizon?
The Amazon princess is rumored to get the solo cartoon treatment next year.
Along with the proposed 'Batman Anime' project (as reported by Cathie Horlick on Aug 6), DC appears to be prepping a direct-to-DVD animated feature focusing on Wonder Woman.
In what looks to be an internal marketing document, DC/Warner Bros. Animation has prepared the following description:
"On the mystical island of Themyscira, a...race of Amazons have raised a daughter of untold beauty, grace and strength-–Princess Diana. When...pilot Steve Trevor crash-lands on the island...Diana [accompanies him] back to civilization. Meanwhile, Ares (the god of War)...intends to start a world war that will...wipe out every living being on the planet, starting with the Amazons! It is up to Princess Diana to save her people and the world-–by using her gifts and becoming the ultimate Wonder Woman!"
The PG-13 film is expected to hit shelves in late 2008 or early 2009.
