Tobe Hooper takes the wheel of a 'Buick 8'
Texas Chainsaw helmer takes Stephen King to the movies.
Cult-favorite Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) will take the reins of the feature version of From a Buick 8, reports Variety's KATHY LYFORD.
Actor-writer Johnathon Schaech (The Forsaken) and writer Richard Chizmar (Road House 2) wrote the adaptation of Stephen King's novel, which relates the tale of a mysterious vintage Buick stored in a state trooper barracks when one of the troopers dies.
Buick 8 will not be "your stock horror film by any means. There's a really cool, layered quality to the story," Hooper said. "The producers, writers and I shared the same sensibility about the project and responded to it in a similar way."
