Pinhead Gets Frenchified

Dimension Films has tapped two acclaimed French auteurs to raise a new kind of Hell.
The Hollywood Reporter's BORYS KIT confirms recent rumors that Dimension Films has signed French filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo (Inside) to helm the remake of Clive Barker's Hellraiser.

Directed by Barker from his critically acclaimed novella "The Hellbound Heart," the ground-breaking 1987 film told the tale of an adulterous wife (Clare Higgins) who tries to help her lover (Sean Chapman) escape from Hell. The movie introduced viewers to a race of demons called Cenobites, including one nicknamed Pinhead (Brit thesp Doug Bradley) who was summoned by an antique puzzle box.

Dimension and Barker announced last year that they were teaming up for a new version of the macabre milestone, for which Barker hashed out a 40-page treatment.

Maury and Bustillo have said they acquired Barker's blessing for the endeavor.
