'Heroes': Bell on Elle

Kristen Bell drops some more tidbits about her new gig on Heroes.
On the afternoon of October 16th, new Heroes cast member Kristen Bell patiently and enthusiastically answered an hour's worth of questions from reporters worldwide.

For the former Veronica Mars, joining NBC’s Monday hit was a no-brainer, especially since she sought out the gig.

"I was a huge fan of Heroes," she said. "I certainly put feelers out there during [San Diego] Comic-Con. [It’s] not just an excellent show, but really fun to be a part of."

The transition was made even easier by the crew and by the supportive ensemble cast, especially her personal friend of ten years, series villain (and future Spock) Zachary Quinto.

"I would love to see Sylar and Elle face off one day," Bell said of a hoped-for meeting of her character and Quinto's.

In the meantime, Elle, who arrives in episode five and then again in episode 8, will be busy with some other regulars. She has a lot of information about Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia), as well as connections to Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), Noah Bennett (Jack Coleman) and especially Claire Bennett (Hayden Panettierre).

"There’s going to be a very interesting dynamic between her and Claire," Bell teased. "There’s going to be a deeper relationship than what fans may be expecting."

That relationship should be aided by the actors' real-life rapport. Bell and Panettierre shared a New York agent when the latter was only eight years old.

"It’s been so much fun playing the role of Elle," said Bell. "I’ve always wanted to play someone who didn’t have the brightest and shiniest of intentions."

But, despite Elle's lack of boundaries and moral compass, Bell is confident that audiences will come to sympathize with the troubled young woman, who was raised by the dark and shadowy Company. Because of that, Bell is very interested in extending her association with Heroes beyond her contracted 13 episodes.

"I’m keeping my fingers crossed that I won’t be killed," she said. "At the end of the 13 we’ve decided to have a pow-wow and sit down and see if it makes sense for me to continue."

Don’t miss Kristen Bell’s much anticipated debut on Heroes Monday October 22 on NBC.
