Kaylee says there's no 'SERENITY 2'... for now

Stargate Atlantis star Jewel Staite told fans not to believe rumors of a sequel to Joss Whedon's Serenity flick.
"Let's address these Serenity 2 rumors before anything else," Jewel Staite wrote on her MySpace blog. "I have no idea what you people are talking about!"

Serenity co-star Alan Tudyk, who played Wash, had made comments to Moviehole which suggested (to fans) that a sequel was as sure as green-lit. Staite, who played Kaylee, reported that it just isn't true.

"I will never say it will never happen, because that's just blasphemy in my opinion," she wrote, "but it's not happening at the moment ... no matter what you read on the Internet."

2005's Serenity was a cinematic follow-up to Buffy the Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon's short-lived sci-fi series Firefly.

Staite now plays Dr. Jennifer Keller on the series Stargate Atlantis.
