'FRIDAY THE 13TH' remake nails a new director

Marcus Nispel, who helmed 2003's Texas Chainsaw Massacre, takes on another horror icon.
Bloody-Disgusting reports that director Marcus Nispel (Pathfinder) will revivify the infamous Jason Voorhees for New Line Cinema's reboot of Friday the 13th.

The new Friday script by Damian Shannon & Mark Swift (Freddy vs Jason) focuses on hockey mask-wearing Voorhees, the resident serial killer of Crystal Lake.

Ironically, Nispel replaces the first announced director, Jonathan Liebesman, who helmed the prequel to Nispel's Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.

Scheduled to shoot during the writers' strike, Friday the 13th redux hacks its way into movie houses next year.
