'JUSTICE LEAGUE' Movie Updates: Cast & Crew
Eva Green's management debunks the casting rumor, a source "confirms" that Common is getting the green power ring, and another artist goes to work on the sets.
Those recent surprising rumors--that The Golden Compass star Eva Green had auditioned for George Miller's Justice League of America--have turned out to be just that: rumors, which have been shot down.
EvaGreenWeb.com reports that, according to her management, "Eva has no interest or involvement whatsoever in Justice League of America."
Another casting rumor, however, involving rapper-actor Common (Smokin' Aces, American Gangster) as JLA's Green Lantern, remains strong for now.
JAKE PAINE at hiphopdx.com wrote Saturday that "rumors circulated this week that the 35 year-old had signed paperwork to proceed with production. G.O.O.D. Music representatives were not available for comment."
If anything at all keeps this rumor on shaky ground, it's Common's age: the idea of a 35-year-old as one of the leads would appear to stand at odds with the supposed scheme of young actors who would "grow" into their roles.
On the crew side comes a report from scenic artist and props maker Billy Shannon that he is employed on Justice League:
"In January, I am off to Fox Studios, Sydney to work as a set finisher, painting surfaces to look like various types of marble and fancy woods...and with luck, may do some backdrop work..."
Shannon may have plenty of time to prep those sets, since, as Variety's ANNE THOMPSON put it on December 27, "that movie will likely not be shot...until after the WGA strike is resolved."
