STAR WARS: CLONE WARS Movie Coming Soon

Fans of Star Wars should get ready, because we’re not far away from a new feature film! But this time, the film will kick off the Star Wars: Clone Wars TV series.
In a press release on their official StarWars.com site, LucasFilm have announced that coming to theatres in North America on the 15th of August, Star Wars: The Clone Wars will begin in on an “incredible new Star Wars adventures, combining the legendary storytelling of Lucasfilm with an eye-popping, signature animation style.”

"I felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell," said George Lucas, executive producer of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. "I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of animation forward."

However the movie is nothing compared to the TV series that will start in the fall following (pretty much the next month). Debuting on the Cartoon Network (hopefully internationally, not just US based Cartoon Network), the 30 minute “mini-movies” will take viewers on a walk through the Clone Wars; the events that took place between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith.

"Warner Bros. and Turner [Turner Broadcasting System Inc.] are uniquely positioned to deliver on the enormous potential of The Clone Wars because together they offer a world-class opportunity: the theatrical and home-video distribution of Warner Bros. and the broad reach of the Turner Networks," said Micheline Chau, President and Chief Operating Officer of Lucasfilm Ltd. "This terrific combination hits the key demographic groups, ranging from kids to adults, that make up the Star Wars audience."

The official website also has a behind the scenes video which looks in to just what is going in to making this series, and how it will be different. With a name like the Clone Wars, there are going to be a lot of Clones, and Dave Filoni, supervising director of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, made mention that some will be identifiable – separate – from the masses of clone troopers dying every episode (the last bit is me).

Needless to say, my year just got a whole lot better with this to look forward too.
