1st (Official) Pic of Rachel Nichols as GI JOE's Scarlett

The lithe P2 star makes mouths water as she models her G.I. Joe uniform from the highly-anticipated film.
Last month, USA Today revealed the first studio-sanctioned photo of Ray Park as Snake Eyes in the live-action film G.I. Joe. Paramount's follow-up shot appears designed to peak the fanboy's more prurient interest.

JoBlo's MIKE SAMPSON on Wednesday shared some of his childhood G.I. Joe memories. "When I got tired of all those sweaty, muscular, mustachioed dudes running around in tight shirts, Scarlett was always there for me with a hot bod and that fiery ponytail. Not to mention how kick-ass she was with that crossbow."

With those warm images in mind, Sampson posted the first publicity photo of Rachel Nichols (Alias, P2) in form-fitting costume as Shana "Scarlett" O'Hara (seriously) in the upcoming live-action G.I. Joe. Scarlett's black outfit more closely resembles the classic attire of the evil Baroness than that of the Joe heroine, and it leaves little to the imagination.

"I grew up loyal to Optimus Prime [of Transformers], so I don’t have the nostalgic geek love a lot of other guys my age seem to have for G.I. Joe," affirmed JOSH TYLER at Cinema Blend. "That said, I think I’ve just discovered a pretty good reason to start caring about the upcoming movie version."

This is only the second official photo released from G.I. Joe. On Tuesday (15 April), The IESB's ROBERT SANCHEZ posted some unauthorized shots (sent in by reader HARRY HUEVOS) of Nichols next to some mannequins wearing Duke's and Scarlett's sculpted battle armor--which means the new pic actually is the second preview of a red-headed Nichols. Additionally, there have been other snapshots, including Dennis Quaid in dress blues as General Hawk.

Directed by Stephen Sommers (The Mummy) from a shooting script by Stuart Beattie (Pirates of the Caribbean), the big screen feature is an adaptation of the comic book and cartoon storyline of the '80s. Duke (Channing Tatum) and the Joe team, based out of the underground HQ known as "The Pit," face off against the megalomaniacal Cobra Commander (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and his Cobra force in battles that stretch across the globe.

The film also stars Sienna Miller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, Marlon Wayans, Arnold Vosloo and Christopher Eccleston. Plus there are rumors of cameo appearances by Sommers veterans Brendan Fraser and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

G.I. Joe hits theaters on August 7th, 2009.
