Star Wars Clone Wars News + Images = WooHoo!

We’re only a few months away from the cinematic release of the Star Wars: Clone Wars movie that will kick start the animated TV series, and we’ve got some more goodies to share with you all.

"By combining the power of the Turner Networks and the power of the Force, we're able to create a fantastic event for Star Wars fans of all ages," said Howard Roffman, vice president of Lucasfilm Ltd. "We're incredibly proud of The Clone Wars, and eager to be able to showcase it for the first time in such an exciting way."

The official plot tells us that we’ll be joining ‘Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala, along with brand-new heroes like Anakin's padawan learner, Ahsoka. Sinister villains -- led by Palpatine, Count Dooku and General Grievous -- are poised to rule the galaxy. Stakes are high, and the fate of the Star Wars universe rests in the hands of the daring Jedi Knights. Their exploits lead to the action-packed battles and astonishing new revelations that fill Star Wars: The Clone Wars.’

USA Today also released a new picture today, showcasing one of the villains from the upcoming movie and series. Asajj Ventress however is not new to the Star Wars universe, having popped up in the 2-D animated cartoon series of the same name. Wielding a pair of red lightsabers, she will no doubt be facing up against Anakin and co sometime soon.

Lastly is the news, sad or not, that George Lucas will not be taking the series past the end of Return of the Jedi. Speaking to the LA Times, Lucas said that "whatever it is that happens afterward [Return of the Jedi], that isn't the core 'Star Wars' story that I like to tell."

This is not surprising news, really, but maybe it is the final nail in the coffin that some people needed before they would let it drop. And, in all seriousness, the better form of storytelling – literature, paper and ink – has got all the stories you could hope for that take place after the Battle of Endor.
