TORCHWOOD Begins Filming Season 3

The surviving team members return for a limited engagement in the epic adventure Torchwood: Children of Earth.
The third season of the cult hit Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood has begun shooting in Cardiff, Wales, announced BBC Worldwide.

The new five-part miniseries entitled Torchwood: Children of Earth follows the covert team on one action-packed adventure in which they fight for the future of the human race against their fiercest foe yet.

"The new series of Torchwood is hugely bold and promises to be bigger and better than ever," said creator Russell T. Davies. "The audience is in for an amazing ride. This series is one big serial and the most ambitious story we've ever made, and we've got plenty of surprises in store."

The Torchwood team includes John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper and Gareth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones. Also returning are Kai Owen as Gwen's husband Rhys, and Tom Price as PC Andy.

Special guests include Peter Capaldi as Mr. Frobisher, a civil servant who is hiding a terrible secret; Paul Copely as Clem, a survivor still haunted by his past; and Liz May Brice as Johnson, a cynical covert government agent determined to expose Torchwood.

The new miniseries is scheduled to air in 2009. In the meantime, Torchwood's second season hits DVD in the U.S. on Sept. 16.
