Hathaway Gets Royal In Burton's ALICE

Anne Hathaway and Helena Bonham Carter both will play queens in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.
Anne Hathaway has signed onto Disney's Tim Burton-directed Alice in Wonderland, according to BORIS KIT & LESLIE SIMMONS of The Hollywood Reporter. Helena Bonham Carter also has joined the film.

The movie, starring Mia Wasikowska as Alice (right) and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, will use a combination of live action and performance-capture technology to dramatize Lewis Carroll's classic tale.

Hathaway will play the benevolent White Queen, who is deposed and banished by her sister, the Red Queen (Bonham Carter) of "Off with their heads" fame. Michael Sheen and Matt Lucas also star.

Bonham Carter worked previously with fiance Burton in Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Big Fish and Planet of the Apes.
