No Director For ELM STREET Reboot (Yet)

Scripter Wesley Strick is NOT directing the proposed remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street. In fact, some pundits suggest that it's a moot point, anyway.
Multiple online sources have debunked Variety's October 8th report that screenwriter Wesley Strick (Wolf) has been tapped by New Line Cinema to helm the rumored reboot of Wes Craven's A Nightmare On Elm Street. Strick reportedly is working on a script for the proposed film, but New Line is mum on how close they are to hiring a director...or if they ever will.

Also, while Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes--the group behind the biggest recent horror remakes--often is mentioned in connection with Elm Street, word is that they're still not officially attached to produce.

"Platinum Dunes is hiring folks to write it, and these screenplays they are working on might as well be fan fiction, because the rightholders don't want any part of it. [New Line's] Bob Shaye said as much," posted THEPHANTOMK on Bloody-Disgusting's Comments board.
