ANOTHER TV Show Being Turned Into a Movie
Yes, another old TV show is being turned into a movie......find out after the "jump".....you'll get that joke in a second
Entertainment Weekly recently sat down for an interview with Johnny Depp about his upcoming movie Alice In Wonderland. However, he was asked a question about another possible project, that being the movie version of the t.v. show that launched his career: 21 Jumpstreet.
“I’m hoping they’ll let me do a cameo,” Depp said with a laugh regarding the potential film. “Someone will say, ‘Whatever happened to Tom Hanson?’ and they’ll find me somewhere hoarding jars of peanut butter and shaking in my underpants.”
However, thats not the most interesting part of the article. It goes on say that the movie is in development at Sony Pictures, where it's being written and produced by, and possibly starring, JONAH HILL!!!!....That's right, the actor best known for his comedic roles in Judd Apatow's movies, like Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall et all. It is unknown whether his involvement means the tone will be comedic, or if he'll be going the route of fellow Apatow disciple Seth Rogen's and trying to make a transition to more serious fare. Guess we'll have to stay tuned to find out.
On a personal note, 21 Jumpstreet was one of my all time favorite shows. That show, along with its spinoff Booker, WERE my late 80's and 90's. A cameo from Depp would be a must, unless its going to be a Starsky and Hutch type movie treatment, in which case he should stay far away as another part of my youth is
