IDW Says 'Never Give Up' With GALAXY QUEST Comic

The hit sci-fi comedy film Galaxy Quest is getting a comic book sequel this August. And this is your only Warning.
IDW Publishing has announced the upcoming Galaxy Quest: Global Warning, a five-part comic book sequel to the 1999 cult favorite comedy flick that starred Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver (right) and Alan Rickman.

On the eve of the re-launch of America's most beloved science fiction series, Galaxy Quest: The Journey Continues, a world-threatening crisis occurs! Will the Earth survive? Maybe, if Jason Nesmith and his fellow actors-turned-adventurers have anything to say about it! In the immortal words of his alter ego, Commander Peter Quincy Taggart, "Never give up! Never surrender!"

"Let's face it," said writer Scott Lobdell (Uncanny X-Men). "Is there anyone who saw Galaxy Quest that didn't come away wondering about the continuing adventures of Jason, Sir Alex, Gwen, Tommy, Guy and Fred and Jane? We've pined away for a sequel long enough! Now we're going to learn what became of these actors after their first greatest adventure together."

Technically, the fact that the new miniseries begins "on the eve of the re-launch" of the GQ TV show means that it takes place BEFORE the last scene of the movie.

Global Warning features full art and colors by Greek artist Ilias Kyriazis (Blood Opera).

San Diego-based IDW Publishing churns out horror, action and sci-fi comics--almost everything EXCEPT superheroes--and specializes in TV/film licenses. Among its more successful titles are CSI: Crime Scene Investigation; Star Trek; Angel; The Transformers, and Doctor Who. IDW's original horror series 30 Days of Night was adapted as a hit movie in October '07.

The 32-page, full-color Galaxy Quest: Global Warning #1 hits comic stands this August.
