The 'S' stand for spin
Some interesting news (for the sartorially inclined) is that Warner Bros. is throwing its weight behind Supergirl, teaming up with JCPenny to launch a "lifestyle brand" (read: clothing line) that will carry the famous S shield. (Warners will try to make a dent in the girls market that Disney, with its princesses, owns lock, stock and barrel.)
Now the deluded, marketing spin part of the news: Warners' president of consumer products says, "The Supergirl S-shield is embraced the world over as a symbol of girl power."
Really? That's funny, I thought the S shield was a symbol of Superman and the Superman family and the power of Superman.
