ROBERT DOWNEY JR.: Teaming with Tom Cruise in El Presidente
According to Screen Rant, Robert Downey Jr. will be returning on screen with Tropic Thunder costar Tom Cruise (who respectively have kicked box office ass with The Avengers and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) in Jay Roach's El Presidente.
Vulture describes the film thusly: “It follows an overzealous Secret Service agent whose work-life boundary issues get him reassigned to the inglorious task of guarding America’s worst former president, who is a bumbling sleaze. The job suddenly becomes exciting when a threat is made on the ex-president’s life and they must go on the run.”
Says Screen Rant, "Warner Bros. is keen to get the film going with Cruise playing the Secret Service agent and Downey Jr. taking on the role of the President. It’s suitable casting when you look at the real life personas of the two actors: Cruise’s public image is that of an eager professional who will stop at nothing to get the job done, while Downey Jr. comes across as a devil-may-care livewire. The combination of mixing them together could lead to some very interesting on-screen chemistry."
