Selena stole her "Magic"?
She didn't write it, AND wasn't the original performer. Check out what happened!
Everyone's a-twitter about Selena's "new song MAGIC ZOMGSH!!!111111111111", and fans can't get enough of it. But although Selena Gomez used the song for her own music video, she wasn't the one who wrote it, OR performed it first.
So who did?
Kids, your parents can tell you.
"Pilot" came out with the original song "Magic" in 1974! (see the record spinning?) Here's the proof, among countless other youtube videos.
Not only did she borrow the song, but Disney sort of forgot to mention Pilot ANYWHERE on the music video, or even hint that Selena's music wasn't her own. One can only hope rather than assume that Disney bought complete rights to the song to the point where the original composers weren't mentioned, giving no clue to the unsuspecting Disney Channel viewer that Selena's glorious video was an unoriginal re-vamp.
Her professionally-recorded karaoke stint catapulted to fame immediately. Not that she herself wasn't famous, mind you. But her fans all think she's a whiz (no pun intended) at songwriting, and it isn't fair for her fame to spread under false advertising.
