David Oyelowo Offered Role in Rise of the Apes
According to Bloody Disgusting, actor David Oyelowo (who starred in The Last King of Scotland) has been offered a role in Rise of the Apes.
There's really nothing known about the character at this point, except for the fact that his name is Steve Jacobs. One has to wonder if his surname is a tribute to the late Arthur P. Jacobs, who was the first person to recognize the cinematic possibilities inherent in Pierre Boulle's orignal Planet of the Apes novel. Slashfilm.com does add that Jacobs serves on the board of directors who announces that phase two -- involving clinical trials -- will begin. One can assume that this refers to the experiments by James Franco's scientist character which will result in Caesar's advanced intelligence.
