From President to Vampire Hunter to Movie Star

Seth Grahame Smith's novel, Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter, which was published today by Grand Central Publishing, is apparently on the way to the big screen.
Mike Fleming at Deadline Hollywood writes, "Alice in Wonderland director Tim Burton has teamed with Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov to produce a movie version of Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter... The filmmakers, both repped by WME's Mike Siimpson, used their own money for the option and haven't involved a studio yet."
Hmmm, is anyone else imagining johnny Depp as our 16th president with an obsession to stake blood suckers?

Wow, talk about a cool concept, I think.

There's more info on this book on the Vampires and Slayers page.

It's certainly a bizarre concept, but sometimes the more bizarre the idea, the better it works.

Thanks to the success of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (and Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter is written by the same author), these historic/supernatural mashups are likely to continue. Over at the Beatles page on Earths Mightiest I have an interview with the author of "Paul is Undead," which postulates that the Beatles were zombies.
