Emily Montague Joins "Fright Night" Remake Cast
According to Dread Central, Melrose Place actress Emily Montague will be portraying a victim of vampire Jerry Dandridge in the remake of Tom Holland's Fright Night, which is currently shooting under the direction of Craig Gillespie.
Notes Dead Central, Montague has "joined the cast of Fright Night 3D to play Doris, a victim of the head vamp in Vegas. Montague joins the previously announced Colin Farrell, Anton Yelchin, Toni Collette, David Tennant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Imogen Poots, and Dave Franco. The new version sticks to the original concept of a teen named Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) who is convinced that his new neighbor is a vampire, though no one will believe him.
"Colin Farrell has the plum role of the vampire, named Jerry, who on the surface appears to be a cool guy but is really preying on the neighborhood. Christopher Mintz-Plasse is playing Brewster's best friend, Evil Ed, "Doctor Who"'s David Tennant will be playing Peter Vincent, Sandra Vergara will play the Vincent's assistant, Imogen Poots is popular high school senior Amy, and Toni Collette is Charlie's mom, who at first disapproves of the new arrival but changes her attitude when she meets the magnetic man and -- surprise -- doesn't believe her son when he tries to tell her Jerry is a vampire."
It's interesting that the setting is Vegas. Back in the '70s, author Jeff Rice wrote The Kolchak Papers, which made it to television in the form of the TV movie The Night Stalker. Rice set the story in Vegas as well, believing that there is no other city that a vampire would prefer to operate in than one that truly comes to life at night.
Fright Night is scheduled for release on October 7, 2011.
