A Bit of Conjecture

V - Friendship Poster One of the differences between the original "V" and the new version is the notion that the Visitors have apparently been living among us for an unspecified amount of time, infiltrating all aspects of society long before the arrival of the fleet of Motherships.
Added to this is the fact that executive producer Jace Hall explained in an interview with this site, "This show is steeped in plausibility and conspiracy and the intermixing of reality and fiction. The tools available to support that kind of entertainment are unprecedented, and we're going to try and take as much advantage of that as we can to really make 'V' something that is fun to be involved with and something that's fun for the audience to invest themselves in."
This suggests an approach similar to the one taken on the series Dark Skies back in the 1990s. That show, about an alien conspiracy, operated under the theory that "history is a lie," and that many incidents in earth's history was influenced by the Hive, an extraterrestrial intelligence. To support this, the show did stories that involved President Kennedy, the Beatles, the peace movement and much more as it attempted to add depth to its mythology.
Dark_skies_cl    If "V" is going down a similar road, it would seem that in this digital age, the manipulation of photographs and film footage to have Visitor elements added to them would be relatively easy. For instance, if the show wanted to tap at all into the World War II analogy that Ken Johnson originally dealt with, it wouldn't take much of a leap to imagine that the Visitors could have played some sort of role in the Holocaust, as well as other atrocities perpetrated over the decades. If pulled off creatively and successfully it could certainly enhance the concept of this new "V".
