Plot Announced for Smurfs Film!

Also some more casting announcements...but is it good news?
Well let's go ahead and jump right into it, here is the official plot for the Smurfs movie:

"When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours – in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down."

Sorry, but if you are going to redo something from so many people's childhood, why change it so much? This means no smurf village, no castles, and probably no magic. Have we learned nothing from Dolph Lundgren's "Masters of the Universe"? You don't have to take an interesting fantasy story, and move it to the "real world". But who knows, maybe this will turn out alright...only time will tell when the movie is in theaters August 3, 2011! Star Trek’s Anton Yelchin is on board to play Clumsy Smurf and Fred Armisen is in to play Brainy Smurf. Already announced voices include Jonathan Winters as Papa Smurf, Katy Perry as Smurfette, George Lopez as Grouchy Smurf, and Alan Cumming as Gutsy Smurf.

Two more names have also been announced for the cast. Anton Yelchin, of Star Trek fame, will be playing Clumsy Smurf. Also announced is Fred Armisen as Brainy Smurf. They join a growing list of voice actors, including Jonathan Winters, Alan Cumming, Katy Perry, and George Lopez.
