Halo Movie WILL Happen!
Rumors have gone around for a long time now...just how serious is Microsoft about making this film?
Rumors have swirled around for a very LONG time about a Halo movie, but at the MI6 Conference we may have an indication that it is finally on the radar. Frank O'Connor, the Franchise Development Director for Microsoft, spoke during a session called "Extending Your Game Beyond the Package", and he had this to say:
"We're going to make a movie when the time is right. We own the IP. If we want to make a movie, the scale of all the other stuff that we do changes dramatically. We make tens and tens of millions of dollars on ancillary stuff, toys, apparel, music and publishing. If we do a movie all of that will grow exponentially. We have some numbers if we do a movie, but it changes everything. It also changes our target and age demographic."
So while we may not know EXACTLY when it's coming, O'Connor definitely seems confident that a Halo movie will happen one day. Not only that, but he's already talking about how they can make even more money from all the promotional items that would come out of it. Personally, I've always been a Playstation man myself...so my encounters with the world of Halo have been few and far between. I do, however, know a lot of people that love the series. I would tend to think that if they are going to make it, they had better not wait too long though! What do you think? Would this be a good thing, or a brand new video game adaptation to hate on?
