Joss Whedon WILL Be Directing "The Avengers"!
Fanboys Rejoice!
It appears that Joss Whedon is now in final negotiations to direct "The Avengers". For those that don't know, "The Avengers" will be the culmination of a lot of fanboy hype when it brings several well known Marvel heroes together for the first time on the big screen as a team, including:
Robert Downey Jr. as IRON MAN
Samuel Jackson as NICK FURY
Chris Hemsworth as THOR
Chris Evans as CAPTAIN AMERICA
Ed Norton is still rumored to be involved in the project as Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk but that still has yet to be confirmed. I'm sure there will be a ton of other characters and easter eggs that we love in the film, especially with Whedon being involved with the film. He's been involved with a lot of hits, including Toy Story, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and has actually directed a few episodes of "The Office". In addition, he also had a two year run as the writer of "The Astonishing X-Men", which I thought he did a great job at.
I have to say, I am one of the multitudes who wished that Jon Favreau would have directed "The Avengers" as well as the Iron Man franchise. I have always thought that Joss Whedon would have been a better pick for Wonder Woman or a movie with a strong female lead. Still, I don't think he's a bad pick. I guess we will find out in May of 2012!
