"Lost" Finale Will Raise MORE Questions?

Should we have expected anything else?
One of the creators of "Lost", Damon Lindelof has revealed that they have built brand new sets that will only be used in the last few moments of the finale. He said it will leave fans asking,"What did they mean by this?". He went on to say, "We did not shoot the final scene of the series on the final day ... for reasons of maintaining the secrecy of the show, and we had to build some sets for the finale -- the construction of the new sets took awhile so that's the work that we did last."

I know I'm not the only one that was hoping to have some "closure" of sorts from this last season, and even Lindelof has admitted that he understands that some have not been big fans of the newly introduced "flash sideways"...but he still insists that it will be explained as well.

"We knew the new storytelling device would be controversial. We started showing people this thing, and people don't know what it is. They don't know how it connects back in the show. We're throwing this huge mystery into a show that already has a bunch of mysteries at a time when the audience expects us to be closing doors and not opening them."

Of course, a lot is riding on the finale of a show the magnitude of "Lost", and a lot of people are worried that it won't pay off in the end, (ahem, Sopranos). But Lindelof is sure that "Lost" won't end with that same style fake ending, but still guarantees it will leave us asking questions.

"The Sopranos ending only worked on The Sopranos, the series finale has to fit the show. We're trying to end lost in a way that feels 'Lost'-ian and fair and will generate a tremendous amount of theorizing. We're going to be as definitive as we can be and say this is our ending, but there's no way to end the show where the fans aren't going to say, 'What did they mean by this?' Which is why we're not going to explain it."

Well, I definitely disagree with him about the Sopranos, haha. I don't think it worked and I wasn't happy with it, but I am definitely glad to know that they aren't looking to repeat that style of ending. The countdown is on, and there looks to be a great episode coming up Tuesday! I just gotta keep the faith that they will do this right!
