Two Additional Cast Members Added to Roster of X-Files 2
Callum Keith Rennie and Adam Godley join David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in long-awaited X-Files movie sequel.
X-Files 2 is headed for the big screen…10 years after the first film graced movie screens. The continuing exploits of Fox Mulder, played by David Duchovney, and Dana Skulley, played by Gillian Anderson, were apparently side-tracked by a lawsuit between series creator Chris Carter and 20th Century Fox Television. The lawsuit filed by Carter cited breach of contract, contractual interference and other claims over revenue from the television series.
Now that the lawsuit has been settled, filming has begun in Vancouver on the as-yet-untitled X-Files film sequel. According to Frank Spotnitz, Executive Producer of the X-Files series and co-writer of X-Files 2, this film will not be delving into the alien-conspiracy mythology of the X-Files TV series, instead concentrating on a self-contained story.
The recent announcement that Callum Keith Rennie and Adam Godley will be joining rapper Xzibit, Amanda Peet and Billy Connolly in the sequel has many fans of the series wondering whether they’ll be seeing any of their favorite series regulars. So far, only Duchovny and Anderson will be making the leap from the series to the sequel; there has been no word whether Mitch Pileggi will be reprising his role as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner or if the Lone Gunmen will appear.
X-Files 2 is scheduled to be released July 25, 2008.
