The Best of Simon and Kirby, the first volume in the Official Simon and Kirby Library from Titan Books, is among the 2010 nominees for the highly prestigious Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards.

The late Will Eisner is himself quoted on the book’s cover, stating that "[Simon and Kirby] started with an infant form and by sheer might-and-main created a whole new genre." Similarly glowing praise also appears from Stan Lee, Michael Chabon, Harlan Ellison and Mark Evanier, author of Kirby: King of Comics. who further provides insightful introductions to each section of the book.

The book has been nominated in the "Best Archival Collection – Comic Books" category. The nomination is Titan Books’ first in the Eisner Awards, and adds to the accolades and acclaim that the book has already received from fans and critics worldwide.

Overseen from start to finish by Joe Simon himself, and containing his insights and behind the scenes secrets, The Best of Simon and Kirby features some of the greatest stories ever told in the graphic medium, painstakingly restored by Simon and Jack Kirby historian Harry Mendryk, and compiled by editor and friend of Joe Simon, Steve Saffel. An over-sized, full-color hardcover volume, it showcases the team’s groundbreaking work in every genre of comics, from science fiction and superheroes, to war, romance and horror, and includes their most famous characters, such as Captain America, Fighting American, Stuntman, Sandman, and The Fly.

Titan’s Official Simon and Kirby Library features the only collected editions authorized by Joe Simon and the estate of Jack Kirby, and is set to continue strongly in 2010 with The Simon and Kirby Superheroes which will debut at San Diego ComicCon International in July, then receive wide release in Fall 2010.

The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards are considered the "Oscars" of the comic book industry. They are handed out each year in a gala ceremony at Comic-Con International: San Diego, the largest and oldest comics convention in the United States.
